What Josh is doing

Since Strauss asked what Josh is up to, since most of you don't know, and since he probably won't be joining the blog for a while, I suppose I will take it upon myself to offer a quick Herr update:

Josh is currently teaching English language and American culture classes at a university in Xi'an, northern China. He has been there since August and will be there until I think sometime this summer (his commitment was somewhere between 8-12 months). He has also just finished applying to graduate programs in East Asian History at several American universities in an attempt to try for a history PhD. I'm sure he would love to hear from any of you, and he sends out a 'newsletter' about once a month, so you could pretty easily get him to add you to his list. I will give you his contact info if you email me and ask me for it at adreamwithinadream@yahoo.com . I'm sure that he would appreciate hearing from all of you, even if it's just a short note or asking to be put on his mailing list. He just finished his first round of classes, and he is starting to feel more at home in Xi'an, but I know that he is still lonely quite often. AND his birthday is December 29, so that's a perfect excuse to email him and say hello! aDios

How many potential PhDs might there be from T6? There is Logey, Coye, Josh, and likely myself. Are there any others? That number seems unusually high for a floor of 40 people, especially when you don't know what half of them are up to.

Thanks for the update, Coye.

Well, I know probably seven or eight more people that are trying for PhDs, but I don't think I know any more from the floor. James is probably getting at least a masters degree in social work. Dave and his MDiv, of course. If you remember Fred Ketchum (used to show up on the floor yelling "Hinkley!" at Jason Hickel), he's working on a Philosophy PhD, as is Jeremy Neill (a cross-country guy that used to hang with me and Logemann). Other people I know potentially working on PhDs or equivalents (you might know some of them): Heather Bakker, Katina Rogers, Eleanor Helms, Finlay Edwards, Adam Wood, Kirstin Carlson, Sarah Kerr, Eva Teague, Jim Watkins(MFA), Naomi Haynes...there's more, but I'm tired of thinking of what everyone's doing. I guess it's just the crowd that I hung around; the people who were NOT looking at grad school were the odd ones out.

You won't see me with a doctorate any time soon. Masters either. Undergrad either for that matter. Yet I'm smarter than all of you combined. Oh, the sweet irony of this sick, twisted globe upon which we ride!

Yes, you probably are smarter than me. How is your music going? Merry Christmas!

It's going ok, I'll post a major update at some point here.
