Mapping the Political Landscape

Hey, you there! Remember when we used to post to this blog? Share funny stories, argue with Grady and Coye and Ryan about things important and things not so important? Yeah, I miss that.

Just for fun, I filled out the series of questions on electoralcompass, which then plotted my range of responses on a graph to suggest which political candidate I ought to support. No big surprises here. More moderate than Coye, less than Dusty (yes, you are my political landmarks).

Happy 2008.

I did the survey and wound up with a circle that looked like I was trying to circle the origin (where the two axis intersect). Anybody want to help me form a Centrist Party called the Stewardship Party? By 2016, one of us will be old enough to run for President, so keep your personal lives clean.

I ended up in the extreme upper-left corner. Anybody want to help me form a leftist party called the "Cool People's Party"? CPP.

I actually have thought about running for president. Seriously. But I don't have the money, credentials, or experience.

I ended up in the upper left quadrant- as far up as I could go on the y axis, just a little to the right on the x axis. (In other words, smack dab in the middle of where Dennis Kucinich would be if they had him on the chart.) The only candidate in my circle was Barack Obama, and he was in the lower right corner of my circle. (No surprise, actually, since I've both volunteered for and donated to his campaign).

I'm up for joining Aeijtzsche's party, but we need a better name.

Andy (or TEFKAMS), how were you able to copy your chart into the blog? I couldn't figure it out.

What's more interesting than the position of the pencil is the size and shape of the elipse. Mine is really flat vertically and fairly wide horizontally. Andy's, however, is taller than it is wide. This is why we need to be able to post them. ARGH!!!

I would imagine you could simply print screen and post after a few edits with paint. Print screen=button on top left of keyboard

Coye, I have a mac now, so there's just some things that will be harder to do on that benighted electron circulator you call a computer. (Macs have a great screen capture app called Grab. Your best bet is to follow Dave's advice: hit print screen, open it up in paint, save it as a jpeg, and post).
