The Law and the Body

I remember the Logemonster bringing up some issues about governmental control of the body-- particularly the force of the law over particular bodies. (I think it might have been during the Schaivo power grab.) Anyways, I saw this news piece today on the AP news-wire, and I thought I would see if anyone has comments or ideas about this sort of invasiveness. I'm not entirely comfortable with the ruling myself, but I'm not sure whether or not to blatantly condemn it. Let's just say that it makes me anxious...

Well, let me be the first to say that this woman sounds like an excellent choice to replace Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court. Her rulings sound fair and just, and don't seem to have anything at all to do with government enforcing undue power over the bodies of its citizens. Nope, nothing sinister here... in fact, she could team up with Bill Bennett (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/01/politics/01bennett.html) who thinks we can lower our crime rate by aborting all African-American babies. These two fine legal minds will bring us just that much closer to paradise!

Alas, Bush did not follow my advice, but instead nominated another for the coved supreme court position. Why does no one listen to me?

Andy, that was the most scarily sarcastic comment I've ever heard come from your lips or fingers. Zowsers. You frighten me with your wit!

Dude, the sooner the better! I've got stuff to catch up with you about. I was bummed I couldn't come out to Boston while I was in NY, but there just wasn't time. Maybe we can work something out over Christmas, maybe! I miss you brother. Do I have your updated phone?
