Taking the position

I'm going to officially accept the Federal Reserve job tomorrow, barring something unusual.

Dusty encouraged me to get a photo with Greenspan in the blog that I shut down comments to. Here is my response.

I would like to have a picture like that some day, but I am putting that on hold. Given that my position will require assisting in briefings to Greenspan, it's best that Greenspan does not just see me as some star struck kid.

Also, thanks for all the congrats and encouragement that I received from people.

Submit to Greenspan.

But what if I am an egalitarian?

Strauss, again congratulations on your new future job. Please keep us from having inflation, though how a group of people pulls that off boggles my mind.

Do you think you could keep loan interest rates very low as well? Thanks.

Oh, and congratulations. You've really accomplished something.

Besides preparation for briefings, the job will mainly entail economic research. I'll have the freedom to help whatever economist is working on a topic that sounds interesting to me, assuming that he/she does not have too much help already.

Thank you for all of the congratulations. Even though it's a position that often goes to students straight out of college, I am psyched. It's a good thing, because my current boss in shock of me telling him that I was strongly considered leaving told one of my co-workers who promptly told all of my other co-workers. I quickly officially accepted the Fed's offer after that since sticking at the BEA no longer seemed to be worth considering once everyone knew that I was probably headed out the door voluntarily.
